ABOUT ABOUT

After the earthquakes in Nepal in April and May of this year (2015), hundreds of thousands of people found themselves homeless. Villages have been completely destroyed in some areas.

Some of the most basic necessities were funded by the Gayatri Fund initiated by Deva Premal, Miten and Manose. In the early days and weeks after the quake they were able to help thousands of men, women, and children to survive and persist.

The Society for Street Children in Nepal, is a non-profit fund-raising society started over 7 years ago. They are working for providing permanent accommodation for street children or those who risk becoming street children in Nepal.

Now we are thinking about the future.

The best thing we can do for villages devastated by this natural disaster is to support villagers in providing a bright future for their youngsters. The Society will help build schools to provide education for children and young people who would otherwise have no access to education. In addition, they will provide food for children still living on the streets. The first village we will build a school is Rathankot in Sindupalchowk, hard struck by the quakes.

All ticket sales and contributions go directly to the work carried out in Nepal.

We are so grateful for the love you have shown to the people of Nepal!

Born in Kathmandu, Manose began his musical journey with a rigorous training in classical Indian raga. Later he brought the sound of the bansuri to many musical genres, from jazz to Celtic to being a founding member of the most popular rock band in Kathmandu. Since meeting Deva Premal & Miten in San Francisco, during a recording session in 2002, Manose has performed extensively with them and is featured on many of their recordings, including their new CD release, Password.

Manose has released four solo CDs and is ever-more popular as a contributing artist for work by everyone from Deva Premal & Miten, and Grammy-nominated Jai Uttal to bluegrass great, Peter Rowan. He has also collaborated with the Chicago Children's Choir, tabla maestro Swapan Chowdhury, John Densmore of the Doors, and The New Maihar Band, an ensemble created by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.

Our benefit concert will also feature local artists including Jorge Alfano, Jeff Deen and Daniela de Mari and Breath of Life. Come join us as we celebrate our showing up in LIFE when LIFE calls.

Manose: "This very moment of existence and silence is my
greatest musical influence.”
